Berkhamsted parking update

We understand there have been many comments about the parking changes in Berkhamsted in some community groups and on social media. While we accept that some issues around parking provision will divide opinion, we will continue to explain and update on progress and/or challenges as they arise to keep residents informed.

Lower Kings Road multi-storey car park

Possession of the site was handed over to the contractor on 2 January 2019. Utilities diversion works have begun and the site is expected to be handed back to us in November in time for Christmas 2019.

Temporary car park

The Moor is a temporary car park which will be permanently closed when the development of the Lower Kings Road multi-storey car park is completed. As this is a temporary arrangement, the materials used are restrictive, to make the least impact on the environment and allow us to restore the Moor to its original condition.

During the winter period there will be occasions when poor weather will create issues that we will have no control over. We apologise for the recent disruption to users of the car park. We have arranged regular inspections of the temporary car park and will take appropriate action when necessary (such as cleaning and temporary closures), including arrangements with our contractor for a lightweight road sweeper to attend the site to remove excess mud and water.

While we appreciate people will have different opinions on parking provision and entitled to make them, we will not accept abuse to our staff, contractors or libellous comments.

We are physically unable to respond to all comments, but will post regular updates on progress or challenges as they arise.
