Residents pound the streets for second Your Town event

Mayor of Dacorum, Councillor Terry Douris, takes part in second Your Town eventResidents supported our second Your Town event, raising more than £600 for charity.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it could not be held as a community event with participants running together, but residents still came out in force to run or walk 5k or 10k in their own town or village over the weekend of 17-18 October 2020.

There were 102 participants of all ages who helped raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charity Raise - which is dedicated to supporting patient care across Hemel Hempstead, St Albans City and Watford General Hospitals.

Cllr Julie Banks, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services, said: “It was great to be part of such a fantastic event taking place across Dacorum, an opportunity for residents to get out in their local area and take part in a borough-wide activity raising much-needed funds, while improving their own mental health and wellbeing.”

The Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Terry Douris, who also took part, said: “It was great to be able to take part and raise money for such a worthy cause. My thanks go to everyone who took part or just contributed and also to my Mayoresses and family. The people of Dacorum shone through again and contributed to a brilliant weekend.”
