Dumped waste cleared from Bennetts End site

Kimps Way before clean up

Our Waste Services team have recently cleared an area of Bennetts End in Hemel Hempstead that had become a dumping ground and eyesore.

The area of Kimps Way, including the rear of Bennetts Gate, houses on Bennetts End Road and Howe Road, had been used to dump mattresses, furniture, hardcore (bricks and rubble), wood, fridges and other household waste before a team from our Clean, Safe and Green department removed the unwanted rubbish.

Our Environmental Enforcement Team have now arranged for the installation of CCTV cameras to constantly monitor the area. It's hoped these cameras will deter anyone from dumping waste in this location. The Enforcement Team will be paying close attention to the area and will take action against any offenders caught fly-tipping.

Offenders who dump waste can expect to be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £400 or be prosecuted for fly-tipping, which is a criminal offence under The Environmental Protection Act 1990.

You can dispose of bulky waste items by using our collection service. Find out more on our Bulky items collection page.

Alternatively, you can take bulky household items and garden waste to the Recycling Centres free of charge. These are located at Eastman Way, Hemel Hempstead and Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted. Find out more on our Recycling Centres page.

To report fly-tipping, please call us on 01442 228000 or visit our Fly-tipping page.
