Community centres

There are 13 community centres throughout the borough, usually run by the community for the community.

As well as a wide range of programmed activities for their local area, the centres all have rooms available for hire for a one-off event, or for a new regular activity for the community.

  • Adeyfield

    Information

    Located in the Queen’s Square, Adeyfield Community Centre has been catering for the community’s needs for the past 50 years. It runs a range of fitness classes (such as Zumba and boxercise) and leisure activities (including bingo, bowls and Scrabble), and hosts coffee mornings. There are two rooms available for hire - the main hall and Rolph suite - which are ideal for weddings, parties and other events.

  • Apsley

    Information

    From yoga and mother and toddler groups to ballroom dancing and Zumba, Apsley Community Centre runs a varied programme of regular activities. It has a number of rooms available for hire, including the main hall, which can hold a maximum of 120 and has a licensed bar and mobile stage. There are a further two rooms for hire upstairs. New Committee members and volunteers are always welcome.

  • Bennetts End

    Information

    As well as a diverse range of activities, including pilates, bridge, tae kwan do and pre-school groups, Bennetts End Community Centre also runs a café project run by service users keen to build the necessary skills for a career in catering. In addition, there’s an internet café (held three times a week) and a number of rooms available for hire - the main hall, Garden room and Lucas suite.

  • Boxmoor and Warners End

    Information

    Boxmoor and Warners End Community Centre backs on to Northridge Park and has ample free parking. The main Maple Hall, complete with stage, can hold up to 180 people and is ideal for large clubs, wedding receptions and parties. A licensed bar is also available for hire. Two further rooms can also be hired, each holding approximately 25 people. There is a connecting door between the rooms offering the flexibility of hiring the two rooms together.

    The centre offers a varied programme of regular activities including pre-school, fitness and ante-natal classes, bingo, Brownies, Slimming World and various dance groups. As the centre is the head office for Dacorum Communities for Learning (DCFL), it is also able to offer a wide selection of computer courses, as well as an internet café on Wednesday afternoons.

  • Chaulden

    Information

    There are two halls for hire, both with fully equipped kitchens. The centre runs a host of classes, including exercise, dance and art, as well as baby and toddler groups.

  • Gadebridge

    Information

    There are a number of rooms available for hire at Gadebridge Community Centre – including the Halsey Hall, Galley Hall, Nokes Room and Jim Mitchell Room. The centre runs many activities, including an internet café three times a week, language courses, bowls, American square dancing,  mums and toddlers' groups as well as a pre-school and after-school club.

  • Grovehill

    Information 

    Grovehill Community Centre has a selection of rooms available for hire – the main hall (max 250 people), small hall (max 50 people), meeting room (max 50 people) and IT suite – as well as a court yard and kitchen. Regular activities include an internet club, after-school club, kids’ karate, cribbage and cards club, scouts, cubs and beavers, as well as Zumba and dance classes.

  • Highfield

    Highfield Community Centre

    Information

    Regular events at Highfield Community Centre, located next to Bellgate shops in Fletcher Way, include kickboxing, computer classes, bingo, short mat bowls and Weight Watchers. The centre consists of a large hall, several meeting rooms, a bar area, internet café and a kitchen. Rooms are available for hire. It is also home to Hemel Hempstead Community Fridge.

  • Kings Langley

    Information

    Kings Langley Community Centre is available to hire for a range of events throughout the year. It has a large hall, complete with wooden floor and stage, which can seat up to 240 people for meetings, and up to 140 seated at tables. There’s also a large, well equipped kitchen, licensed bar in a separate foyer area, and plenty of free parking. At the back of the centre there’s a smaller room, which can accommodate up to 40 people.

  • Leverstock Green

    Information

    Leverstock Green Community Centre boasts a main hall (maximum capacity 150), plus two smaller rooms - the Westwick (max 60) and Buglass (max 30). All three are available for hire for clubs, wedding receptions, parties and other events. In addition, there are two kitchens and a bar. The busy centre hosts a range of regular activities from art, dance and fitness classes to amateur dramatic productions.

  • Tring

    Information

    There are plenty of different classes and activities held at Tring Community Centre. These include pilates, Zumba, yoga, street dance, computer training, Weight Watchers, bingo and a pre-school.

    If you're looking for somewhere to host a party, corporate function or wedding reception, then there are three halls available for hire, including the main hall (which can accommodate up to 190 people).

  • Woodhall Farm

    Information

    The main hall at Woodhall Farm Community Centre regularly hosts exercise and dance classes, as well as playgroups and the scouts. It can accommodate 120 people and can be hired for a range of functions, such as parties and receptions. The centre also has several smaller rooms, ideal for committee meetings, training, interviews and informal group meetings.
