Youth Forum activities
Over the last few years we've been pretty busy! If this whistle-stop tour sounds interesting why not come along to a meeting and see for yourself.
2011: we organised the Look Out Youth Event - a great day for all with music, rock climbing, graffiti boards, sumo wresting and talent contest - over 900 people attended, the whole event was filmed by DeeTV.
2012: volunteered at the Paralympic Games at Jarman Park, we interviewed the torch bearers and wrote articles for Dacorum Digest.
2013: volunteered at the Herts Disability Games and worked with Dacorum's housing service on a youth starter pack for tenants.
2014: DYF consulted on the regeneration of the Water Gardens project.
2015: DYF completed an arts project in partnership with Boxmoor Trust and The Old Town Hall, raising awareness of our local environment and recycling. This included a photography workshop with Samson Reddyhoff.
Tom, aged 12, on Boxmoor Recycle, Reduce and Reuse session: “It was good fun and good to know how to use natural materials to make art."
In 2015 Dacorum Youth Forum wanted to give back their time to a charity in the local community. They chose DENS Dacorum Foodbank. The youth group thoroughly enjoyed working as a team in the Foodbank, organising food for local people and learning about the work DENS does on behalf of the community.
"I was very happy that I got the opportunity to help out, and see the effort that the Foodbank makes to help others," Thayne, aged 11
"I always love going to the Foodbank to help out, we have a laugh and get work done. I enjoy it every time," Cheytan, aged 14
