Equality and diversity

We're committed to creating a culture in which equality of opportunity is actively promoted in every aspect of service provision and delivery, and the working environment. We aim to remove barriers and improve access to our services and to achieve equality of opportunity in our employment practices. When we make decisions which may have an impact on equality and diversity, we take into account The Equality Act 2010.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (PDF 331KB) provides a blueprint for creating an inclusive environment for all our staff, and also provides a framework to ensure that we deliver an appropriate and inclusive service to residents on each and every contact.

Equality Information Report (PSED)

The Equality Information Report (PDF 260KB) demonstrates our legal compliance against the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), which is part of the Equality Act (2010).

Equality and Diversity Policy Statement

We need to ensure that we maintain the highest quality of service and set standards for our employees.

Our  Equal Opportunity Policy Statement (PDF 81KB) aims to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between all council workers.

Equalities, diversity and inclusion calendar

We're proud to publish our  Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - Calendar 2023 (PDF 7.4MB), produced in partnership with Diversiton.

It provides important dates including holy days, religious festivals, health and wellbeing awareness days, special events and bank holidays.

The calendar highlights important themes around inclusion with a special focus for each month, as well as a monthly quote and lunar cycles.

Our calendar has been designed and produced in a format that allows universal access so that content can be used by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities or vision impairment. It makes it easier for people with disabilities to access the calendar with the aid of assistive technology software and devices such as screen magnifiers, screen readers, speech-recognition software, text-to-speech software, alternative input devices and refreshable Braille displays.

If you feel that we’ve missed any awareness or celebration dates in the calendar, then please email your suggestion to edi@dacorum.gov.uk.

Community impact assessments

To make sure that we consider the needs of all sections of our community and our impact on the environment during the development of policies and projects, we complete impact assessments for projects or policy development. This is to help ensure that we do not inadvertently disadvantage individuals or harm our environment.
