Dudswell, Northchurch and Tring conservation area appraisals consultation
What is the consultation about?
Conservation areas are designated by us to preserve or enhance the character and appearance of areas of special architectural or historic interest. While there are some additional planning controls and considerations, these exist to protect the character of the area and features which make it special. As part of this protection, we have a duty to assess and review conservation areas from time to time.
Specialist consultants have reviewed three of our conservation areas (Dudswell, Northchurch and Tring) and produced draft appraisal documents (see below). These documents set out why the areas are special and important heritage assets. They identify buildings, structures and spaces which make a positive contribution to the areas' character and also identify opportunities for improvement.
In addition, they review the boundaries of the conservation areas and suggest alterations. The finalised documents will influence our assessment of future planning applications and guide future development.
We're asking for your views on each draft appraisal document. The deadline for making comments is Friday 30 March 2018.
