Grey wheeled bin
We will provide you with one 240 litre grey bin. This should be left at the boundary of your property by 6:45am on the day of collection.
What should go in your grey bin
Each household is issued with one 240 litre grey wheeled bin.
If you do not have a grey wheeled bin, you can request one using our online form.
The grey bin should only be used for household waste which can not be recycled.
If you have more rubbish than will go in your bin...
Our collection crews will not collect any rubbish which is not in your bin. If you have more waste than will fit in your bin, excess waste blue sacks are available to buy for £1 per sack (reduced price for Dacorum Card holders) from:
- Hemel Hempstead Civic Centre
- Berkhamsted Civic Centre
- Tring Civic Centre
- Cupid Green Depot
We will not collect excess waste unless it is in a Dacorum Borough Council blue sack.
Please note that it is your responsibility to store your waste safely and without causing litter.
Bin too big or too small?
Each 240 litre bin should have enough space to last each household for two weeks, provided that the household is using all available recycling facilities.
If you are finding that your bin is too big for your household's needs, you can exchange it for a smaller one (140 litre). To request a smaller bin, please call 01442 228000 and ask for 'Waste Services'.
Large families of at least 6 people can apply for a larger sized grey bin.
