There’s only one week to go until our celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee get started with the Platinum Party in the Park - a free live event in Gadebridge Park on Thursday 2 June from 2pm until 10pm.

Starting with the Trooping the Colour through the park, there will then be fun for all the family with free entertainment - balloon modelling, face painting, stilt walkers, magicians and caricaturists.

T Smiths Fun Fairs are also in the park all weekend providing thrill-seekers with some added excitement.

The event will be hosted by actor and comedian Andre Vincent with performances from Gobstoppers and Joanna Bordon Dance Group, live music from Glee Club, Ashlea Lauren, Vanessa Hastings, Uke Ellington and the Bandits and Too Hard to Handle, alongside comedians Howard Read, Laura Lexx and Jonny Awsum. The event will end with the lighting of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon and a firework finale.

On Saturday 4 June, we are putting up a big screen in Gadebridge Park with an afternoon of free family films to mark the Jubilee. Starting at 2pm, the first film will be The Queen’s Corgi, followed by The BFG at 3.30pm. At 5.30pm, The Greatest Showman sing-a-long will be showing, which should help the crowds warm up their voices for the live broadcast of the BBC's Platinum Party at the Palace at 7.30pm. Bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy.

There are also 86 planned street party celebrations taking place across the bank holiday weekend in Dacorum.

Councillor Julie Banks, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services, said: "This year marks a special year celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and we are bringing a packed programme of events over the long Bank Holiday weekend so that the community has plenty of opportunities to all get together and celebrate.

"The exciting programme includes the Platinum Party in the Park, Trooping the Colour, a tree planting for the Queen's Green Canopy, lighting the Jubilee beacon and a live screening of the events taking place at Buckingham Palace. I hope to see many of you there."
