Housing Service receives grading from Regulator of Social Housing

We have received confirmation of a ‘C2’ grading from the Regulator of Social Housing, following its first formal inspection.

All social housing landlords will be inspected every four years and awarded gradings between 1 and 4. The C2 grading means the regulator has highlighted some areas of weakness that we need to improve on, in relation to some aspects of delivering the expected consumer standards.

The inspectors met with councillors, management, staff and tenants over two days in May. They examined aspects of service delivery, building safety, tenant engagement, complaints handling and compliance.

Following initial feedback, the regulator then produced a report to highlight our successes and draw attention to areas for improvement.

Cllr Simy Dhyani, our Portfolio Holder for Housing and Property Services, said: “We are pleased to see that the Social Housing Regulator recognises the improvement journey we are on to deliver a housing service which listens to its tenants and keeps them safe. I would like to thank our officers, who worked so hard to support the inspection, as well as all the residents who took part in meetings during the inspection itself.

"We will use the inspectors' report as a tool for learning that will drive our aspirations to continue to improve services and work towards achieving a C1 grading next time.”
