Extreme heat closures
Due to current high temperatures, play equipment is currently too hot to use safely at the Adventure Playgrounds (APG), the difficult decision has been made to close all of the APGs on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 August 2022. We will continue to closely monitor the situation.
The APGs are not scheduled to be open to the public over the weekend, however, we will be contacting those who have private bookings at the APGs, so that we can discuss whether the event can proceed safely. We expect to be able to reopen the Adventure Playgrounds safely on Monday 15 August 2022.
Summer programme 2022
If you're looking for a fun-filled summer, then look no further than our Adventure Playgrounds. We have a host of activities geared to entertaining the family, and we have something for everyone.
Please check individual playground pages for a list of activities. We look forward to welcoming you.
Our adventure playgrounds
We have four adventure playgrounds across the borough, which are free to use and cater for children aged eight to 16. They are a safe environment for children to meet, play and learn.
Please be aware that priority regarding activities will be given to children of playground age (eight to 16) - children under eight are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
They are managed and supervised by a team of qualified staff and provide a secure and stimulating environment for all children, including those with special needs and disabilities. Please remember that the playgrounds are run as open-access facilities, which means that children are not restricted and can come and go as they wish (all children attending one of our playgrounds must register beforehand, see below for registration details).
Facilities* at our adventure playgrounds include:
- Floodlit 3G football pitches (Adeyfield and Grovehill)
- Tubular slides (Adeyfield)

While you’re no longer required by law to self-isolate if you have COVID-19, you should still stay at home and avoid contact with other people. This helps reduce the chance of passing COVID-19 on to others and our staff. If you do have any symptoms we advise that you take a lateral flow test, please do not come to the playgrounds until you return a negative test result.
