Clean, Safe and Green
Grass cutting update
Our Clean, Safe and Green teams have started the summer grass cutting rota. However, they are slightly behind schedule due to the condition of some of the verges and green open spaces.
Although the recent sunny, warm weather has helped to improve conditions, some of the ground has not yet recovered from the extended season of wet weather prior to that. This has meant that the teams have been unable to take their heavy grass cutting machinery on to soft ground without causing damage.
Now that the ground has started to dry out faster, we are close to getting back on schedule. Apologies for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.
About Clean, Safe and Green
The Clean, Safe and Green department is made up of a number of different teams, each looking after and providing a specific service. The teams are: Clean, Safe and Green, Parks and Open Spaces, Trees and Woodlands, and Countryside Access and Rights of Way. These teams all work together to maintain the outdoor spaces in the borough and ensure a pleasant environment for our residents.
The Clean, Safe and Green teams are multi-skilled and carry out a wide range of services from litter picking to mowing. There are seven area teams, each looking after one neighbourhood. This allows the teams to work closely with the Community Wardens and Police serving that area to tackle environmental problems such as graffiti, vandalism and drug-related litter. They are responsible for grass cutting in public areas across the borough, including parks, open spaces, amenity greens, verges, play areas, hedges and sports pitches.
A special rapid response team is available to clear priority street issues, such as fly-tipping.
The teams cover:
- Adeyfield and Highfield
- Berkhamsted, Northchurch and Ashridge
- Bovingdon, Flaunden, Chipperfield, Nash Mills and Kings Langley
- Boxmoor, Chaulden, Warners End and Gadebridge
- Grovehill, Watling and Woodhall Farm
- Hemel Hempstead town centre, Leverstock Green, Apsley, Corner Hall and Bennetts End
- Tring, Aldbury and Wigginton
Our award-winning parks
We have four parks that have been awarded Green Flag status - the national standard of excellence for parks. We also have two areas that have become Queen Elizabeth II Fields in Trust, allowing them to stay as green spaces forever.
We work closely with communities, schools and businesses across the borough to keep Dacorum clean, safe and green. More information about the initiatives we run can be found below:
