New grant scheme to help with training and qualifications for unpaid coaches and volunteers

We are excited to announce the launch of the Community Grant Training Bursary Scheme. This initiative supports the professional development of unpaid coaches and volunteers in sports, arts, heritage, cultural, and community groups within Dacorum. It offers financial help for training and qualifications to boost their skills and knowledge.

You can apply at any time of the year, for grants ranging between £100 and £500. You can also apply for a Small and Community Grant alongside this bursary.

We particularly encourage applications from the following groups:

  • Young coaches and volunteers: Aspiring young people aged 14 to 21 (subject to course age requirements)
  • Inclusive coaches and volunteers: Clubs and organisations delivering accessible projects for people with SEND/additional needs or with an inclusive focus
  • Culturally diverse and lower socio-economic communities: Clubs and organisations serving underrepresented groups
  • Female coaches and volunteers: Clubs and organisations that support female participation in leadership and volunteer roles.

The bursary is part of our Community Grants scheme. Applicants must be unpaid coaches and volunteers at clubs and organisations in Dacorum. The training or qualification must start within 12 months of receiving the grant.

Councillor Adrian England, Leader of Dacorum Borough Council, said: “We are proud to launch this new bursary programme to support the invaluable work of our local unpaid coaches and volunteers by investing in their training and development.

"We are investing in the next generation of community leaders in the sports, arts and community sectors.”
