How to bid for properties and next steps

Bidding on available properties

Once your housing application is activated you can start to place bids. You will need to check the Moving with Dacorum website regularly and bid on any suitable properties. We advertise all properties for at least three days. The exception is supported housing properties (mainly for those over 60 years of age). These are advertised weekly from Wednesday to Monday.

When we'll contact you

If we shortlist you for a property, a member of our Housing Needs Team will be in touch within two working days of an advert closing. We'll request documents from you so that we are able to verify your circumstances. These may include: bank statements, photo identification, proof of address, and evidence of income and/or benefits. All shortlisted applicants get 48 hours to provide documents to our Housing Needs Team.

If your bid for a property has been unsuccessful, you will be able to see this on your Moving with Dacorum account. We are unable to contact all unsuccessful applicants.

Change of circumstances

If you fail to report a change in your circumstances, or do not reply to our calls or emails within 48 hours, we will not consider you further. If your circumstances have changed, we will suspend your application until it is re-assessed.

After we offer you a property

After we offer you a property, we'll pass your information to our Lettings Team. They will get in touch with you to arrange a viewing, either in person or virtually. They will be able to let you know the timeframes for moving in. If we nominate you to to a registered provider, the provider will contact you directly.

Refusing an offer

If you bid on a property and are successful, but you refuse the offer of housing, then you will not be able to bid again for six months.
