• LLC1 – the Official Certificate of Search

  This reveals the entries on the Land Charges Register. This would include (if applicable to the property): planning history of the property; tree preservation orders; listed building status and conservation area status.

• CON29 – the Enquiries of Local Authority form

  CON29 includes: highways information, public footpaths, building control, compulsory purchase orders, proposed tree preservation orders, proposed enforcement actions.

  Many of these replies are not to be found on statutory public registers.

• CON29O – the Optional Enquiries of Local Authority form

  Examples of information that can be requested: advertisement signs, completion notices, national parks and countryside, noise abatement.

• Personal searches

  A personal search is an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register. Personal searches can be made by members of the public or their agent, but by appointment only.

  Our Local Land Charges Register is stored partially on computer and partially in manual files. This means that in order for a personal search to be conducted our staff must collate all the relevant information in advance.

  A personal search is free of charge.

  Personal search appointments - notice for agents

  • We operate an appointment system for access to view the Local Land Charges Register in person. 
  • A printout of the LLC Register will be provided to view free of charge on the appointment date.
  • Viewing times are between 9.30am and 11.30am, Monday to Friday.

  The booking system also allows you to order an Official LLC1. The cost is £15 (£16 from 1 April 2024), with the result returned via email. Payment by card is available on the booking system. A site location plan and LLC1 request form will be required. These can be attached on the system.

  We still require an up-to-date site location plan clearly indicating the curtilage you wish to search for. Please attach the plan to on the booking system.

  Please note: there is a maximum of five addresses per company, per appointment in person, in order to ensure fair access to all.

  We try to accommodate appointments in person in accordance with our current turnaround time, depending on demand for appointments and staff availability.
